Psotkov memorial race
The 39th series of the Psotkov Memorial Race in the High Tatras, Slovakia, was held on the 12th of October, 2024. The race commemorates and honors Slovak mountaineer Josef Psotka, who, alongside Zoltán Demján, became the first Slovak to summit Mount Everest (8948m) in 1984. This year marks the 40th anniversary of their achievement, which occurred on October 16th. Though Psotka tragically passed away during the descent, his legacy lives on in the peaks and valleys of the Tatra Mountains, where runners gather each year to challenge themselves on the trails he once cherished.
